The world series has been finally set, and the Boston Red Sox will play the Colorado Rockies. This should end up being a great series, as both teams are on a great run and are playing great. Personally I think the Red Sox will win it all for the second time in four years.
The Red Sox are a typical powerhouse American League team. They have two top sluggers in the middle of their lineup in Manny Ramirez and David Ortiz, and they have the complementary parts that have stepped up throughout these playoffs. Their pitching is also top notch, as they have probably the best big game pitcher out there, in Josh Beckett, along with enough playoff experience in Tim Wakefield and Curt Shilling to keep the team in games. The Rockies also have a powerhouse offense, but their top pitchers are all very young, and have been inconsistent at times.
While the Rockies have been on a historical run, my thinking is that the Red Sox have been tested more by the stronger American League teams. The Rockies have the offense to contend with the high powered BoSox, but their pitching is to young and inexperienced to keep the big time Sox Sluggers at bay.
